Melanie Lucas makes jewellery using sterling silver, fine silver and semi-precious stones, from her workshop on the Surrey / Hampshire border.

Working with a language of simple, organic metal shapes Melanie’s pieces are made and finished by hand, using traditional silversmithing techniques.  The surface textures are created using rocks, slate and various tools (purloined from relatives’ sheds and toolboxes when they are not looking).  Melanie’s jewellery is only lightly polished to retain the natural, earthy and organic look left by the process of her texturing techniques.  She combines the silver forms with a palette of natural, earthy coloured stones to create elegant couplings between the materials.
